Curriculum VitaeMr. Robert C. Murtha, Jr., Chairman of the BoardMr. Murtha received his B. S. in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. Later, he received a M. S. in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. During his graduate studies at Hopkins, he completed an engineering design project under the direction of Prof. Michael McCormick leading to an essay on the McCabe Wave Pump. He has also completed the Cox Executive Leadership Course at the Southern Methodist University and the United States Marine Corps Engineering School. Prior to starting Murtech, Inc., Mr. Murtha was Vice President of ACS Defense Environmental Solutions, now a part of the Lockheed-Martin Company. His ocean/environmental engineering background include engineering and management positions with the Coastal Management Corporation, Sludge Management, Inc. and Community Refuse Limited. Upon graduation from the Naval Academy, he received a commission in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Murtha earned his Masters Degree by writing a thesis on the McCabe Wave Pump, further demonstrating ocean engineering integrity. While in the Marine Corps, he served as U. S. Presidential Security Officer, in charge of the company of Marines tasked to serve as security for the President, the Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. He also served as Aide to the President and First Lady during functions at the White House. While in the Third Combat Engineer Battalion, Mr. Murtha received the Navy Achievement Medal for solving water shortage problem. Mr. Murtha is a member of both the Johns Hopkins University Environmental Program Advisory Board and the Member American Society of Civil. |
